Gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament and one of the most distinctive portraits of Jesus in the Bible. Compared with Matthew, Mark, and Luke, it feels more reflective and philosophical, while still telling dramatic stories and conversations.
A simple way to think about John is:
It’s a book focused less on what Jesus did and more on who Jesus is and why that matters.
Near the end of the book, John explains why he wrote it:
...these things are written “so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
So the Gospel is designed to lead readers toward faith and spiritual understanding.
Let’s jump in together and read chapter 1.
